BILL CLINTON: BACK TO THE FUTURE?

LOS ANGELES –Since the Democratic race has heated up, Barack Obama has made the case that his campaign is about tomorrow and not about the past, referring to the eight years Bill and Hillary Clinton were in the White House.  It is not known which side gets the advantage from this rhetoric, but they are arguments both camps cannot avoid making.

With such a short tenure in the U.S. Senate, the Illinois Senator has little to offer when talking about a past record, and has his vision of the future as his strength.  Unlike Obama, Hillary Clinton, who was an intricate part of Team Clinton since they arrived in Washington in 1992, has an extensive record to analyze. Both as First Lady and New York Senator, Clinton has made the hard decisions, and has taken tough positions.  She too would like to look forward, and has offered a positive vision for the future, but it would be irresponsible for her to ignore the successes of the past.  Today, President Clinton addressed this head on.

While visiting delegate-rich California which votes this Tuesday, the former President spoke from the pulpit at the City of Refuge Church in Gardena, and answered the central charge that seems to have been the central theme of the Obama campaign.  “Things were pretty good in the 90’s,” said Clinton.  Then, without mentioning the Obama campaign by name he said, “Elections aren’t about the past, but before we look to the future, we have some things that need be fixed.”

Regardless of who wins the most delegates on Super Tuesday, it is understood that the campaigns will continue their delegate search in the remaining contests.  So strap yourself in the Democratic De Lorean Express, as we continue traveling at the magic 88 M.P.H., while the politics of the past and future continue crashing together.
